Movie March 2016

March 1st marks the start of a movie-filled month. From rom-coms to oscar nods and missed hits to indies, the Movie March is the annual immersion of motion pictures. #moviemarch2016

1. Grease Live!

Just partied a Carly Rae Jepsen concert so I wanted keep the good times rolling. --- Having never seen the 1978 classic, the impressive Pink Ladies cast got my attention (in Carly Rae Jepsen and Vanessa Hudgens). From the catchy "Summer Loving" number, this cast and crew pulled off a fun 2-hours with plenty to love for the musical fan in me.
It must have been a Wednesday.

2. Wish I Was Here

Watched the trailer and thought Zach Braff was due for another comedy-drama and award-winning soundtrack. --- This coming of (late) age story showcased the emotional journey when past decisions catch up to you. The hard-hitting moments were overshadowed by the light-hearted humor of one's man journey to win a Comic Con cosplay contest.
We move forward - it's the only direction God gave us.

3. Hercules

Read on the internet that Dwayne Johnson eats 800 pounds of cod each year --- It was the action-packed blockbuster marketing made it out to be. Coming from the director of the Rush Hour trilogy (and sadly X-Men: The Last Stand), smug one-liners and over-the-top fight sequences helped keep the movie from getting too serious. And we can't forget that John Hurt's' English accent makes any movie better.
No matter how far you go, man cannot escape his fate.

4. The Giant Mechanical Man

Pam Beesley and Danny Castellano starring in a rom-com. --- The title reminded me of the statue street performers in Waikiki. A slow, unguided film at first, the final act revealed how your personal connection with your art should be shared with the one's quirky enough to see it too.
Life is crazy, right? Maybe if you see a giant mechanical man, you know, wandering down the street toward you, maybe that it could put it into perspective for you.

5. Ex Machina

This Academy Award winning film took the VFX Oscar from Mad Max: Fury Road and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. I mean Rey's insta-bread deserved the Oscar on it's own.A thought-provoking sci-fi revolving around the Turing Test. Driven with immersive visuals and engigmatic story telling, each character's actions continuously made you question their true intentions and the debated question: What does it mean to be human?
The challenge is not to act automatically. It's to find an action that is not automatic. It's automatic art.

Fast & Furious 6.

Five years after watching Fast Five during finals week, it was time to revisit the Fast & Furious franchise.

You don't turn you back on family. Even when they do.

Fairy tales are more than true - not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten.

18. Everything Must Go

You know they say that the dining room is the least utilized room in the house? I think it's the front lawn.

19. The Secret of Kells

You can't find out everything from books, you know. I think I read that once.

20. The Theory of Everything

Eddie Redmayne beat out Leo for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in 2015.

In the face of overwhelming odds, I'm left with only one option, I'm gonna have to science the shit out of this.

28. Trainwreck

What I'm sayin' is you gotta go for it. You need to focus if you want to take it to the next level.
